That's what many do get something for 1 game whether hype, not knowing it's on the older (even if we aren't counting the COD/Sports fans audience here), maybe keep it there until the next game they want to use it for, keep it under their TV collecting dust (like the Wii) or sell it. Knew a friend that wanted a Switch for Animal Crossing, then sold it because the hype died down/didn't find any other need for it.
It's why people bought a Vita is Persona 4 Golden before the PC release (instead of using a PS2 emulator or getting the PS2 version which they could have) then they sold them and moved on.
I myself have to have 5-10 games as a reason to get a console but I always find enough reason to get one (did for Switch) but for PS5/XSX I have none right now as my PS4/One do the job already and the console features don't interest me right now. My PS4 I use a fair amount, One sits there, and my older systems get pick ups often and used the most.
I mean while I am not interested in GT7 at the moment, I would have got it for PS4 because I still use my PS4 not get a console for 1 game.
