Because it takes a lot of time to make the fully detailed high-res models for the new games. A lot of the cars from GT5-GT6 used models that were ripped from the PS2 titles. That said, the models that were already detailed in GT6 should definitely be featured in GT7, as they already have their interiors modeled and possess much higher res graphics.

And let's not forget how people complain like crazy when they saw "bad looking Cars" in their HD game, and by bad I mean PS2 Cars (Not joking). I was honestly happy to see them back, even tho I questioned why some cars interior are full black.

Yeah PS2 cars aren't that bad looking, aside from some of the textures on them looking pixelated due to the 1080p upscale.

Back in the day GT was clowned on for having low quality standard cars or just straight up useless [expletive] like duplicates. They took them out and now doing every car detailed to the teeth and now people are complaining about not having some irrelevant [expletive] from the 90s

Also licensing is a big issue you know.

GT2 which had 200 more cars came out 23 years ago
