The SEMA show in the United States is known as the worlds largest custom car show. Every year, "Gran Turismo" awards the "Gran Turismo Award SEMA" award to the best of show selected out of the cars displayed, which is then included in a future rendition of "Gran Turismo" for players around the world to drive and enjoy. The winner of the 2007 award was this Audi TT coupe.
Canadian tuning factory HPA worked on this car, and it is owned by the president of HPA himself, Marcel Horn. On the exterior that appears normal other than its bright color, are aerodynamic parts like the front lip spoiler and side skirts that have been designed not to disrupt the original feel. What really draws the eye are the doors. Rare for an Audi based custom car, the doors are modified to be gull winged.
But what is more amazing is what's under the hood. Twin turbos have been added to the 3.2L V6 engine, and with revised intake and exhaust, it produces 542 BHP. And of course the DSG transmission and suspension has been tuned to match the added power. With 0-62 mph acceleration of 3.5 seconds, and a 0-400m time of 11.6 seconds, the small Audi TT sports coupe is given supercar level performance.
The car was awarded the "Best of Show", due to the extensive and thorough modifications made to the Audi TT, which is definitely not an easy or typical base car to work with.
