In-game description[]

"The 2011 machine of Jimmie Johnson, who won 5 series championships in a row."

For the five-year period between 2006 and 2010, NASCAR star Jimmie Johnson was simply unstoppable.

The California native, who debuted in the Winston Cup series in 2002 (the name of NASCAR's top racing series from 1971 to 2003, renamed Nextel Cup in 2004 before becoming the Sprint Cup in 2008), immediately showed incredible skill and promise. As a rookie, he earned four pole positions and scored three wins; one of his pole positions came at NASCAR's premier race, the Daytona 500. He became the first rookie ever to lead the points standings and finish the year in an amazing 5th place.

Over the next few seasons he honed his racing skills and improved every year, culminating in his first series championship in 2006. But this was only the beginning; Johnson continued his championship-winning streak through 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010, becoming champion in NASCAR's top-tier racing series an incredible five consecutive years in a row. Prior to this achievement, the greatest number of consecutive championship victories was three, set by Cale Yarborough from 1976 through 1978. With modern NASCAR racing being incredibly competitive, no one ever expected any driver to beat Yarborough's remarkable three-peat.

Late in the 2010 NASCAR season, it looked like Johnson was not going to be able to defend his title as Denny Hamlin was the odds-on favorite to win the championship. But the hard-charging Johnson staged an incredible comeback in the final race to win his fifth straight title.

With his amazing race craft and determination, Jimmie Johnson has become the dominant force in NASCAR racing and looks set to score even more championships in the years to come.
