In-game Description[]

"The second return of Abarth is the timeless '500'; bold looks and bolder driving performance."

Abarth & C. marked its return, following the company’s 2007 comeback, when it released the Grande Punto Abarth, based on the Fiat Grande Punto. This venerable Italian tuning brand, with a rich heritage of producing specialized high-performance cars, finally have enthusiasts what they had all been waiting for: the Abarth 500, which made its debut at the 2008 Geneva Motor Show.

Based on the newest Fiat 500, it modernized the second-generation car with rounded styling cues and, more importantly, quick driving responses. This compact recipe of good looks and sharp reflexes has led to its instant popularity. The engine in this little pocket rocket was a 1.4-liter, turbocharged 4-cylinder DOHC unit, producing 133.1 HP/151.9 ft-lb, which propelled the 2447 lbs car from 0 to 62.1 mph in 7.9 seconds, and to a top speed of 127.4 mph. Impressive, yes, and beyond what is typical for this class of car.

The standard suspension consists of McPherson struts up front, and a torsion beam in the rear, but the springs and dampers had been specifically reinforced for this model. In addition, the 500 Abarth got a variety of electronic devices including TTC, which acted like a limited-slip differential, giving the car better stability when cornering and completely betraying the initial impression one got from its tall, round shape.

From a visual perspective, the car was no shrinking violet either, with large, aerodynamically optimized front and rear bumpers, as well as side skirts and a roof spoiler, leaving the onlooker with no doubts that this was a full-fledged Abarth.

Used Cars (GT7)[]

Italian racing car constructor Abarth rose to global prominence in the 1950s and '60s. The brand was reborn in 2007, and the new company debuted this Abarth 500 soon afterwards. It's a hot hatch with an FF—or front-engine, front-wheel drive—layout. From its engine to its suspension, everything about this car screams Abarth!

Café (GT7)[]

Back in the 1950s and 60s, Abarth used to be called 'Giant Killers'. That’s because these modestly sized cars would frequently roar past their more powerful rivals. This car has a powerful engine, is extremely light, and is both quick and agile. It can go toe to toe with sports cars with twice the price tag. It’s a true heir of the Abarth tradition.

Stella[]

This is an Abarth car—you can tell straightaway from the 'scorpion' emblem. Abarth is one of the most storied brands in motorsport history. It was established by Carlo Abarth… Who began his career as a racer and engineer of two- and four-wheel vehicles in the 1920s... And later had success as a tuned for Fiat. Today, an Abarth 595 that is based on the old Fiat 500 will fetch a pretty penny! By the way, about that scorpion emblem… It comes from the fact that Carlo Abarth was born in November, making him a Scorpio!

Fabio Filippini[]

This Abarth 500 was skilfully designed by Centro Stile Fiat. Doesn't it conjure up the spirit of that iconic iconic little car from 1957? This new sporty Fiat follows in the footsteps of the 500s as tuned by Carlo Abarth. In terms of updates: this car features a large grille, a sporty bumper, side skirts and 17-inch alloy wheels. It sports the vintage red stripes and other colour elements on the mirrors and calipers. Also, the two large enamel badges on the front and rear revive the famous scorpion logo in its original colours. But the most exciting thing… Is the fantastic soundtrack it makes from its dual rear exhausts!

Trivia[]

  • Due to the car's interior being right-hand drive, it is possible that the modeled version is for the Japanese market, where it is a popular foreign car due to car's dimensions being under 1,700mm wide and having engine under 2000cc, allowing the car to qualify for "5" tax class bracket. Despite this, the car has European-sized license plates.
