The Alfa Romeo 155 Touring Car is a race car produced by Alfa Romeo. It only appears in Gran Turismo 2.

In-game description[]

The following description is a translation of the car's description from GT2's NTSC-J version:

Alfa Romeo's middle sedan, the 155, which debuted in January 1992, was also a remarkable success in motor sports. Especially in the touring car championship (DTM) held in Germany at the time, the 155 was always competing at the top against Mercedes-Benz and other strong competitors. The car running there was a model called the 155 V6 Ti.

This machine was tailored by Alfa Corse, the motorsports division of Alfa Romeo. The body was constructed using a sub-frame, and the front cowl, rear doors, trunk, and side skirts were all made of lightweight and rigid carbon fiber Kevlar (all other parts were made of steel for safety).

Mounted just above the front bulkhead of the extremely rigid body, and clearly lower than the no-frills unit, is a racing-inspired V6 DOHC unit. The V6 has a pressure ratio of 12.5, and the Weber Marelli engine management system produces a whopping 420 hp at 11800 rpm. Moreover, the engine weighs only 145 kg, including the clutch, thanks to the luxurious use of an aluminum block and titanium valves.

In addition, this unit is very quick and easy to install and remove. The 4WD system is also equipped with Ferguson viscous differential limitation, which normally runs at 25% front and 75% rear, but can be changed to 55% front and 45% rear depending on the situation.

Brakes are Brembo carbon metal 6-pod (front) and 4-pod (rear). Tires and wheels are Michelin 24/65-18 slicks and Speedline magnesium center-lock 9.0Jx18 size. This is truly a monster machine.

Trivia[]

  • The livery on the Alfa 155 Touring Car is actually based on the BTCC car driven by Gabriele Tarquini in 1994, although it used car number 17 (Tarquini used #55 that year). The racing modification for the road going 155 resembled the BTCC car with the DTM livery, meaning that the liveries for both were switched. This was fixed with the car's counterpart in later games.
  • In early versions of GT2 the car was known as the Alfa 155 V6 Ti '95DTM Model.
