"Equipped with DOHC V-8, this exquisite coupé was produced by Alfa Romeo in the pre-war period."
―In-game catch text for the car, from GT7's car collection

The Alfa Romeo 8C 2900B Touring Berlinetta '38 is a road car produced by Alfa Romeo. It first appears in Gran Turismo 7.

This car appears to be the CN.412035 Touring Berlinetta variant from 1938, sometimes referred to as the "Lungo Berlinetta" (Italian for "long", in reference to the wheelbase of the chassis), which won the Best of Show prize at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance in 2008,[1] but it is incorrectly stated as the CN.422030 in-game, which is actually its engine's serial number.[2]

Car Index[]

"8C can either refer to an engine's eight cylinders or THE iconic pre-war Alfa Romeo series. The straight-eight engine was designed by the genius Italian engineer Vittorio Jano. The Berlinetta body was made by the famed coachbuilder Touring. Also, there were only five Berlinettas made in total. This particular one, from 1937, is quite famous, appearing in many motor shows and catalogues. It also won 'Best of Show' at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance in 2018. Then it won it at the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este the following year! It also won the Louis Vuitton Classic Concours Award. I doubt many other cars have won prizes at three of the world's biggest concours! Needless to say, its current value is nothing short of astronomical."
―In-game description of the car, from GT7's Legend Car Dealership

Before World War II, Alfa Romeo was a small automotive manufacturer that specialized in creating race machines and upscale road cars. The most notable model from this era was the 8C that appeared in 1931.

The name 8C actually refers to the company's 8-cylinder powerplant. Designed by renowned engineer, Vittorio Jano, this water-cooled engine featured the latest technology of its day, including dual overhead cams (DOHC) and a hemispherical combustion chamber. The 1937 8C 2900B, the last in the 8C line, had 2.9 liters of displacement and came equipped with twin superchargers, enabling the engine to produce 177.5 HP. Two different versions of the chassis were available, with varying wheelbases, allowing customers to choose a number of different body styles from their favorite Carrozzerias.

The Alfa Romeo 8C 2900B Touring Berlinetta is a gorgeous coupé designed by Carrozzeria Touring, utilizing the company's Superleggera (Superlight) technology. Thanks to its engine, it boasted race car performance, making it one of the most heralded super sports cars of its day. Rumor has it that only five of these cars were ever produced.

Café Conversations (GT7)[]

Hideo Kodama[]

Classical yet elegantly refined, this car is truly a stunning work of art. The body is designed by Carrozzeria Touring... Which had already experimented with a modern 'pontoon' shape and integrated fenders. What made the 8C2900 different... Was its classic design, which accentuated its large, sweeping fenders. Not only did it make a statement among the Alfa Romeos of its day... It continues to grab the attention of modern Italian car enthusiasts.
