Alpine is a French manufacturer of racing and sports cars which used rear-mounted Renault engines. It is currently a marque of Renault, used for their sports car offerings and as their Formula One entry.
Alpine was founded in 1954 in Dippe, launched its iconic Alpine A110 model in 1963, and was purchased by Renault in 1974, producing cars until 1995. In the 2010s Renault began reviving Alpine as their sports car brand, entering LMP2 entries and producing the A110-50 and Alpine Vision Gran Turismo concept cars, before reviving the A110 in 2017. In 2021, Renault Sport was merged with Alpine, taking over the role as Renault's general performance brand.
