Aston Martin Lagonda Limited, or better known as Aston Martin, is a British manufacturer of luxury sports cars founded in 1914 by Lionel Martin. He named the company after himself and the Aston Clinton hillclimb where an early car of his had some success.
The company has changed ownership many times throughout its history. At one point it was owned by a gentleman called David Brown who also built tractors. He decided it would be a good idea to put his mark on the cars. This is the reason why most of the cars bear the prefix "DB", Brown's Initials. Aston Martin is now owned by a consortium; consisting of David Richards' Prodrive and some Eastern bankers, having also previously been owned by Ford.
Aston Martin is well-known for producing several cars featured in Ian Fleming's "James Bond" series of films, notably the DB5, DB6, DB7 and Vanquish.
Aston Martin vehicles have been featured in all the main Gran Turismo games, however they do not appear in Gran Turismo PSP for an as yet undisclosed reason. The company even has their own dedicated event on Gran Turismo 4.
