In-game description[]
- "I know what you're thinking: a DB3 road car doesn't exist. The DB2 was followed by the DB2/4, the DB2/4 MkII, the Mark III, and the DB4. If that's what you're thinking, then you certainly know your Aston Martins! There was, however, a DB3 race car. It was introduced in 1951, and unfortunately, saw limited success.. This DB3S is an upgraded version that was released in 1953. It's well known as a true masterpiece. Its beefed-up inline-6 engine powered it to numerous victories in some of UK's most famous races. This particular example, chassis number 1, is the car that took home the Gran Turismo Trophy at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance in 2013."
- ―In-game description of the car, from GT7's Legend Car Dealership
The DB3S is a sports racing car that was active in racing until the mid 1950s. Its base was the DB3, developed during the famed David Brown years of Aston. While born in an era where the borderline between a roadcar and a racing car was fairly vague, the DB3, developed using DB2 components, was clearly for racing use.
Its further evolved DB3S model had a curved styling aiming to optimise and improve aerodynamics. Many structural changes were made for performance improvements, including the shortening of the wheel base and weight reduction. The inline 6 cylinder engine was tuned from 163 BHP in its DB3 years to 182 BHP, then to 224 BHP, then ultimately to 239 BHP. The car proved its performance in actual racing, with victories seen in not only British domestic races but in international races as well.
31 examples of the DB3S were produced. Out of these, the car with vehicle chassis number '1' received the Gran Turismo Trophy at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, hosted in the U.S. in 2013.
