Audi is an automobile manufacturer based in Ingolstadt, Germany and founded in 1909. Before being acquired by the Volkswagen Group, Audi was part of Auto Union.
In 1912, Audi was already active in motorsport with the Type C in the Austrian Alpine Rally. After relaunching the Audi brand, Volkswagen decided in 1965 to merge Auto Union and NSU into its brand, along with Audi's other prior attainments Horch and Wanderer from 1932. 1985 saw the introduction of the quattro S1, which successfully continued Audi's rally heritage.
Another notable motorsport success by Audi is their participation in sportscar racing. Audi withdrew from prototype endurance racing in 2016; a plan to return under LMDh regulations in 2023 was replaced by a purchase of the Sauber F1 Team to prepare for the marque's participation in 2026.
The company first appeared in Gran Turismo 2, and appeared in every mainline game since.

Trivia[]
- A station wagon A4 was planned for inclusion in GT2, with the body even making it to the demo disc builds, but it never appeared in the retail versions.
- Audi is one of three manufacturers (the others being Nissan and Toyota, the latter fulfilling the criteria in GT7 Update 1.44) with cars in all racing categories (Gr.B, Gr.4, Gr.3, Gr.2, and Gr.1) with the addition of the Audi RS 5 Turbo DTM '19 as a Gr.2 classed car in GT7 Update 1.31.
- Furthermore, Audi are the only manufacturer to have at least one car in all five classes that is neither fictional nor concept in nature. Nissan's only Gr.B and Gr.4 cars are fictional; Toyota must field either a VGT or a concept car in Gr.3.
