In-game Description[]

The following description is a translation of the car's description from GT2's NTSC-J version:

This model, called ti, was added to the previous generation BMW 3 series, E36, which was introduced in 1990. The chassis of this model was taken over from the E30, the previous model of the E36, and the second half of the E36's body was completely cut off to make a hatchback body, positioning it as a compact car that would carry BMW's bottom line.

The 1.9-liter and 2.3-liter engines, based on a 1.6-liter inline 4-cylinder, are available, and either a 5-speed MT or 4-speed AT is used in combination with the FR system to drive the rear chassis.

There is also a wide variety of packaged models, including an M-Sport model with special aerodynamic parts, sport suspension, and sports seats.

The chassis is similar to that of the E30, with struts in the front and semi-trailing arms in the rear. Both front and rear brakes are discs.

Although the E30 is the most compact BMW, its driving quality is full of the sporty sensation that is typical of BMW. Moreover, since the chassis is based on the previous generation E30, it has a high degree of freedom to swing freely on winding roads.

Another advantage is the car's low weight (1,250 kg), which makes it one of the most nimble BMW 3 Series cars in terms of driving feel. It is a small but lively model.

Trivia[]

  • In addition to the 323ti, a regular (non-compact) version of the E36 BMW appears in some of the demo builds, internally named gb3cn and with replay name of BMW E36 323i Coupe. The car has a complete body, but with no rims and the rear-left wheels popping out of the rear bumper.[1]
    • The demo's replay files also mention BMW E36 320i Coupe (with internal name of gb0in). While it has no body of it's own (defaulting to the Toyota Altezza placeholder body), it would have likely used the same body as the 323i.[1]
