In-game Description[]
A new generation of the BMW 3-Series, called E46 by BMW insiders, debuted in 1999. While there was only a sedan model at the time of its debut, a two-door coupe was added for 2000. It has the "Ci" designation, BMW way of indicating that it is a coupe. The engine offerings are the same as for the sedan, namely DOHC straight-sixes of 2.5-liter or 2.8-liter displacement. The 2.5-liter 323Ci puts out 170 hp/181 lb-ft while the 2.8-liter engine-equipped 328Ci generates 193 hp/206 lb-ft. Either of these powerplants may be mated to either a 5-speed manual or 5-speed automatic transmission. Naturally, they are rear-wheel drive. The chassis adopts front struts and a rear multilink suspension similar in design to that of its predecessors but further developed. If the mechanical aspects are unchanged from the sedan, then why was the appearance of the coupe delayed? The secret lies in the body and chassis. This 2-door coupe may appear at a glance to share body panels with the sedan, but in fact, about the only shared parts are the emblems, side marker lights and doorknobs. All other components were designed from the ground up. Looking carefully, you will find that the shape of the lights in the front fascia and the shape of the turn signals are also different, while the body panels are subtly but completely different. The rear section is also unique. Because of this, the coupe is very special. That is why people are so particular about this car.
