In-game description[]
- "The long nose and short deck proportions have long been a benchmark of sports-car design. If you were to ask enthusiasts to name a recent BMW that embodies this ideal, many would point to the 2003 Z4, a true masterpiece. The successor to the Z3, it acme powered only by an inline-6, making it feel somewhat more prestigious in comparison. Its elegant body was penned by American designer Chris Bangle, and it is distinguished by the Z-shaped curve on its sides. Despite being a convertible, the Z4 stays true to BMW's values, with 50/50 weight distribution and triple the rigidity of the Z3. A race version competed at the Nürburgring 24h, making it one of those rare cars that looks as good as it goes."

- "Are you looking for a convertible with elegance and performance? If so, the first-gen BMW Z4 is the car for you! The successor to the Z3, it only came equipped with an inline-6, which replaced its predecessor's 4-cylinder engine. Its long hood exudes plenty of grace - the car's silhouettes embraces the term "long nose/short deck proportions." True to BMW tradition, it embodies the brand's hallmark traits of optimal weight distribution and enhanced structural rigidity. The Z4's suspension builds on the design refined in the E46, and its 227.8 HP inline-6 engine embodies BMW refinement. Having proven its mettle at the Nürburgring 24 Hours, the Z4 earns its reputation as a top-tier machine by any standard!"

Car Index (GT7)[]
At the 2002 Paris Motor Show, BMW unveiled the convertible Z4 sports car, which replaced the Z3. At first, the engine lineup included a 2.5-liter and 3.0-liter inline-6, a step up in class in comparison to the Z3 which started out with only a 4-cylinder powerplant.
The design unmistakably showcased the distinctive styling philosophy of Chris Bangle, BMW's chief designer at the time. The flowing lines and the signature "T-shaped press line in front of the doors were design elements that instantly distinguished the car.
With an entirely new chassis and body developed from the platform level, the Z4 achieved near-perfect front/rear weight distribution of 50.3/49.7. What was also notable was that although it was 55 lbs lighter, the Z4 boasted three times the twisting rigidity of its predecessor. The suspension setup—featuring struts at the front and a multilink configuration at the rear—was carried over from the E46 3 Series. This decision was driven by the fact that extensive testing had already been completed, ensuring a smoother and more efficient development process for the Z4. No compromises were made in incorporating cutting-edge technologies, including BMW's first electric power steering system, DTC (Dynamic Traction Control), an enhancement to the traction control system, and DDC (Dynamic Drive Control), which adjusted steering feel and throttle response to suit either sporty or normal driving modes. The Z4 offered a variety of transmission options: manual, automatic, and a semi-automatic gearbox called SMG.
Like the Z3, the Z4 was manufactured at BMW's Spartanburg plant in South Carolina, USA. The motorsport version of the Z4 has been participating in prestigious events, such as the 24 Hours of Nürburgring.

Trivia[]
- In GT7, the Type B front part (without a widebody) is based on the front bumper from the LCI (facelift) model, while the widebody front bumpers are based on the M model.
- In either case, the front lip spoilers are part of each bumper option and cannot be removed.
- When the Semi-Racing exhaust or Racing exhaust are fitted, the rear bumper changes to one resembling that of the Z4 M Coupe.
- In the livery editor the indicators can be changed from orange to clear, a change that was made for the LCI (facelift) model.
