The Buell Firebolt XB12R '05 is a Street bike produced by Buell. It only appears in Tourist Trophy.

Colors[]

There are three colors available for this bike:

  • Midnight Black
  • Thrust Blue
  • Racing Red

Description[]

The Buell XB series bikes are distinguished by their unusually short wheelbase and steep fork angle. The 1,023-cc XB12R and 12S, released in 2003, were preceded in 2001 by the 984-cc 9R and 9S. These were fitted with a modified short-stroke version of the engine developed for the Harley Davidson Sportster 1200, but the engine in the 12B and 12S has the same bore and stroke as the Sportster's. Improved exhaust valves boost low- to midrange torque. This power is not just readily available, but easy to control as well.

In contrast to the slightly hard-to-control 9R and 9S, the 12R and 12S deliver the same monster torque but with a responsive, accurate throttle modulation. Riders adept at throttle control will enjoy a stable, forgiving ride.

The XB12R Firebolt has different exterior parts than the naked 12S and is designed for a more forward-leaning riding position, with footpegs an inch higher and handlebars half an inch farther forward and three and a half inches lower. This aggressive riding position is perfect for achieving the precise suspension load control that the machine requires. The tight synchronisation between machine and rider makes the 12R feel smaller than a litre-class bike. The 12R handles quickly, with the kind of tight response you would expect in a middleweight racing machine. The bike can be unstable when handled sloppily, but then that's true of any serious racing machine.

When riding at 3,000 to 4,000 r.p.m., the combination of the Sportster engine's powerful midrange torque and thumping feel is pure exhilaration.
