Revision as of 10:21, 8 June 2014

The Chevrolet Corvette C7 Test Prototype is a prototype racing car produced by Chevrolet. It appears in a free DLC pack for Gran Turismo 5. As a top-secret prototype, the true livery of the car is hidden behind a black vinyl camouflage which remains in place while the car is being driven. Only when the finalised C7 is released in 2013/14 will the actual appearance of the car be revealed. Although its handling can handle some circuts, it's "dead gear" (6th gear) feature allows it to acheive limitless top speed, as long as the player is drafting behind a faster opponent, and this makes it ideal for Special Stage Route X.

Description

This description is taken from the Gran Turismo official website.
One of the most highly anticipated performance cars in the making, the next generation Corvette promises to be anything but ordinary.
With spy photos valued at an estimated $100,000, Chevrolet has gone to extreme measures to disguise the test car. In fact, a designated Corvette design team was tasked with developing custom camouflage to conceal the new design elements.
Every inch of camo is intentional. Strategic padding and pitch-black vinyl serve to disguise an all-new silhouette. Even dummy head and tail lamps are used beneath the camo to deceive the eye during test runs.
The concealed test prototype continues to undergo extensive performance and durability testing in preparation for final production. Millions of hours will be accumulated through thousands of rigorous performance trials before the car is released later in 2013. And while only 5 elite drivers are certified to drive the Corvette test prototype on the track, it's now available to test for yourself before it is revealed to the world in January 2013.

Acquisition

GT5

In Gran Turismo 5, this car is only available to use once the relevant free DLC pack has been downloaded from the PlayStation Store. Upon doing so, the car is immediately placed in the player's garage. Further copies of the C7 Test Prototype can then be purchased from the Chevrolet dealership for 100,000Cr.
