In-game description

"2nd generation Corvette that became a full sportscar based on the Stingray racer."

The Corvette that debuted in 1963 was truly successful at capturing - in a mass-produced sports car - the essence of the 1957 Stingray Racer that had stunned the world with its futuristic design.

In this model, now called the C2, a new model name was introduced. It was called the Corvette Sting Ray, and was made available in two distinctly different body styles: a coupe and a convertible. The wheelbase was drawn in from 102 inches in the previous model to 98 inches on the newly designed chassis in an attempt to improve handling.

While the double wishbone and coil suspension of the previous model was retained up in the front end of the vehicle, a new trailing arm and swing axle independent suspension system was utilized in the rear. This suspension uses transverse leaf springs that connect the left and right hub carriers, and also positions the axle horizontally. The Sting Ray proved to be an exceptionally big hit with thanks to the much improved handling.

With its characteristic rear windshield split into two halves, the new coupe was popularly known by the nickname "split-window"[1].

In 1965, the four-wheel drum brakes were upgraded to race car-specification 4-piston 12-inch ventilated-rotor disc brakes, which had been jointly developed by Girling and Delco.

Furthermore, in the same year, a 396 ci[2] big block V8 engine was added to the lineup in addition to the standard 327 ci[2] small block. The most powerful engine option made available for the car was the 419 HP L78.
