In-game description[]
"One of the leaders of the high-powered Kei trend, which showed its superior performance on mountain roads."
*The Daihatsu Mira was sold as the Cuore outside Japan.
In 1994, the power competition between K-cars had reached its peak. Daihatsu's answer to Suzuki's best selling Alto series was the Mira TR-XX Avanzato. The Avanzato was a sports grade trim that was added to the previous Mira line-up in 1991, and the Avanzato R is a stoic model with additional features that improve its driving performance.
Japan's bubble economy had already collapsed by this time, but the car market was still full of high-end customers. Although the new Avanzato was a 659 cc K-car, it differentiated itself from the Alto Works by equipping an engine similar to a full size car; an inline-4, DOHC 16 valve turbo. The Avanzato R also had a maximum torque of 73.7 lb-ft, and was the first K-car to push output over the 70 lb-ft mark.
Even the transmission was given a luxurious choice of a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic. The rear suspension had a toe-control arm for the first time in a K-car, and combined with the standard LSD, it was capable of extremely sharp cornering. All models now came equipped with disc brakes in the rear.
The speed of the Avanzato R was apparent on winding roads. 1st, 2nd, and even 3rd gear would rev up immediately, and aside from very severe tight corners, it was possible to clear most corners in 4th gear. Though with this much performance, the engine cooling was pushed to its very limits, and after a hard run it required a cool down period.
Interestingly, a month after the sale of the Avanzato R, the rival Alto Works also underwent a full model change. This was a fun era when high-power K-cars competed neck and neck to be the best.

Trivia[]
- In demo builds of Gran Turismo 2, the MIRA '97 TX 2WD and MIRA '97 TX 4WD, both of which are also L400 Mira much like the TR-XX Avanzato R was, were also planned for inclusion in that game, but both were cut long before release.[1]
- Curiously, the file of the 1997 TX 4WD model features an earlier version of the 1998 L700 TX body model in the demos instead of the L400 (1994-1997) body model. The logos for both do feature the L400 series Mira logo, however.
- In early versions of Gran Turismo 6, the car's Stage 3 Turbo is bugged, being coded to give 230 hp for a total horsepower of 574 hp. This was later fixed in version 1.02, being changed to a more modest rate for a kei car.
- The Mira serves as the "default" body for cars in GT3. As such, cars whose bodies were completely removed in the PAL version of the game have their bodies replaced with that of the Mira.
