In-game description[]
This description is taken from the NTSC version of Gran Turismo 2:
The 1998 revision in the Japanese government's[1] subcompact standards allowed the stylish Opti, which debuted in 1995, to take off in new directions. Joining the new Opti lineup was the Beex,[2] a sports version that represented a departure from the classic approach of its predecessors. The top-of-the-line Beex[2] was this model, the Aero Down Beex.[2] It houses a Topaz series engine developed by Daihatsu under the new government standards. This transverse mounted in-line 3-cylinder DOHC with intercooled turbo delivers a maximum output of 63 BHP at 6,400 rpm and a maximum torque of 79 lb-ft at 3,600 rpm. The front-wheel-drive version of the Aero Down Beex[2] has an in-line 4-cylinder DOHC intercooled turbo engine that generates a maximum output of 63 BHP at 6,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 79 lb-ft at 3,200 rpm. Both a 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic transmission are available. The suspension system uses MacPherson struts in the front and a 3-link rear suspension. The ventilated disc front brakes are combined with drum rear brakes. The sports suspension permits a lowered minimum ground clearance. This model also features enhanced Aero components.

Trivia[]
- A entry for a racing modification for the car is mentioned in the replay name lists in the demo builds of the game, although it was cut from the final game. [3] Had it been created, it would likely feature the standard Daihatsu racing livery as featured in the Daihatsu Storia and Mira/Cuore.
- Ironically, a racing version of the Opti featuring Daihatsu's racing livery is featured in Sega GT, as Daihatsu's works car in that game's E Class.
