The Daytona Tri-Oval, known as Daytona Superspeedway prior to GT7, is a 2.5 mile banked oval based in Daytona Beach, Florida, USA. The circuit appears in Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, Gran Turismo 5, Gran Turismo 6, and Gran Turismo 7. The home to NASCAR's prestigious season opener, the Daytona 500, it is one of three real life oval tracks in the series, with the others being the Indianapolis Superspeedway and the Twin Ring Motegi Super Speedway.

Trivia[]

  • In GT7, if the player waits for around 5-10 seconds at the bus-stop chicane instead of starting their first Time Trial lap, the Falcon Heavy from SpaceX can be seen taking off in the distance. Wait around 3-4 minutes at the bus-stop chicane, and the detached thrusters can be seen landing.
  • The version of the track appearing in the PlayStation 3-era games is based on the 2005 configuration of the track, with a single yellow line (the line that defines track boundaries in NASCAR races held on the track) and backstretch grandstands. The version of the track in GT7 appears to be scanned around 2018 to 2019, given the Geico Restart Zone sponsorship on the front stretch, as well as double yellow lines, and lack of backstretch grandstands, as well a hidden NASCAR on NBC broadcast truck.
