The Dodge Challenger is a nameplate used by three different generation of automobiles produced by Dodge, a division of Chrysler. The name originates from the 1959 Dodge Silver Challenger.
The first generation Challenger, which was a pony car produced between the 1970 and 1974 model years, was based on the Chrysler E platform, offering a hardtop and convertible. The second generation Challenger was produced between the 1978 and 1983 model years, and it was a badge engineered Mitsubishi Galant Lambada. The third generation Challenger was introduced in 2008, this time as a pony car built on the Chrysler LC, later LA platform.
On November 2021, Stellantis announced that 2023 would be the last model year for the LA Challenger due to the company's desire to focus its plans on electric vehicles as well as stringent emission standards.
