In-game description[]
"Nothing else comes close in terms of wildness; only 22 were ever produced."
The Dodge Super Bee made its first appearance in 1968. It was based on the Coronet model.
The Super Bee gained popularity as a reasonably priced, high-performance model that would come to represent Dodge. However, with the introduction of the Muskie Act, it was decided that from 1971 the Super Bee would no longer be based on the Coronet, but instead would be a sports trim for the Charger which had recently undergone a full model change.
The Charger Super Bee had a standard 330 HP Magnum 383 with the Magnum 440, 440 Six-Pack, and a 426 Hemi[1] available as options. However this was the last year in which the 426 Hemi[1] was mounted in production cars, and there were only 22 ever produced. There were many reasons for this, a few being that the price of the option was extremely expensive, being roughly 1/3 of the price of the base car itself, and that its power output was nothing short of wild and was deemed unnecessary for urban driving. It also had much to do with the weakness of the Chrysler sales channel at the time.
There was also an R/T model with the same powertrain, and there were only 63 cars produced with the 426 Hemi.
The Charger Super Bee was only included in the lineup for 1971. In the following year of '72, it was combined with the Charger R/T, and became a new grade called the Charger Rallye.
As a side note, the Bumble Bee character of the Super Bee body graphics came to be used as a mascot for all Dodge Sports models.
