"A machine for private racers, carrying on the bloodline of the GTS-R."
―In-game catch text for the car, from GT7's car collection

The Dodge Viper SRT GT3-R '15 is a race car produced by Dodge. It appears in Gran Turismo Sport and Gran Turismo 7.

The car represented in the game is based on the launch livery version of the car, when it was first shown to the press on June 20, 2013, during the 2013 24 Hours of Le Mans.

An alternate livery of the car is inspired by the Dodge Viper GT3-R that raced in the 2014 SCCA Pirelli World Challenge.

Liveries[]

Two liveries are available for this car:

  • Variation (#92 SRT Motorsports Pirelli World Challenge, GT7 only)
  • SRT factory livery (unlisted in-game)

In-game description[]

"The Viper SRT GTS-R served as the starting point for this FIA GT3 class vehicle. It is the product of a collaboration between two groups of experts at the top of their field: Chrysler's high-performance automobile division, SRT, and Riley Technologies. The total weight was kept below 1,200 kg, and the aerodynamics have been refined even further. These modifications were a great success, as evidenced by the car's excellent GT race performances!"
―In-game description of the car, from GT7's Brand Central

The Dodge Viper evolved into its 3rd generation model at the 2012 New York Motor Show. With the appearance of this iconic American sports car, the development of a GTS-R competition model was also announced, and it became clear that the Viper would return once again to the Le Mans 24 hour race and American Le Mans series after a 10-year hiatus. And the Viper GT3-R is a GT3 machine created for private teams, based on the GTS-R works machine.

In the development of this machine, SRT (the high-performance car development division of Dodge) and Riley Technologies (a major race constructor of the U.S.) worked together to instil the car with their know-how for victory.

The traditional long nosed, short deck body has improved aerodynamics with a flat bottom and the addition of a wing. Weight has also been reduced to 1,295 kg (2855 lbs). The 8.4 litre V10 with a dry sump is powered up to 670 BHP (507kW) unrestricted, and this power is transferred with an X-Trac 6-speed sequential transmission. It is also equipped with 6 piston front/4 piston rear brake callipers with large diameter discs for stopping power.

The Viper GT3-R was priced at $459,000, with orders received from the latter half of 2013. Its level of performance is already proven in various GT Car races in the US and other parts of the world.

Café Conversations (GT7)[]

Designed and built by Chrysler's Advanced Design Studios over the course of 1988 and '89... The Viper was dubbed the 'second-coming' of the Shelby Cobra. It was a co-production by then-president Bob Lutz and designer Tom Gale.[1] Heralding a new era at the New York Auto Show in 2012, the SRT GT3-R[2] marked the series' return to racing. Distinguished by a long nose and short deck body... Its flat bottom and wing addition promised dramatically improved aerodynamics.

GT7 Manufacturers Cup variation livery error

The segment from the GT7 Manufacturers Cup intro video; note the incorrectly colored liveries on the Huracan, AMG GT3, and the Viper.

  • In GT7's Manufacturers Cup intro, the car incorrectly appears with decals used by the launch livery, but with the red base color used by the Pirelli World Challenge variation livery.

Notes[]

  1. Sentence in-game reads as "It was co-production by then-president Bob Lutz and designer Tom Gale."
  2. Incorrectly referred to in-game as "GTS-R".
  3. As GT Sport's servers has been shut down on January 31, 2024, and as the last Manufacturer Series race in GT Sport was held on December 25, 2021, it is no longer possible to obtain the car this way.
