Ferrari N.V. is an Italian sports car manufacturer based in Maranello, Italy. Founded by Enzo Ferrari in 1929 as Scuderia Ferrari, the company sponsored drivers and manufactured race cars before moving into production of street-legal vehicles in 1947 as Ferrari S.p.A.. Throughout its history, the company has been noted for its continued participation in racing, especially in Formula One, where it has enjoyed great success. Among their most famous vehicles are the F40, Enzo, FXX, and the F430.
In Gran Turismo 5 and Gran Turismo 6, Ferrari's manufacturer driver and pit outfit is the only one that does not include the brand's logo on it, instead having Gran Turismo logos on the outfit's chest.
In Gran Turismo Sport and Gran Turismo 7, while making a new livery for Ferrari cars in the Livery Editor, the amount of Brand Decals available are reduced and limited to a single folder. User-made decals are not affected by this restriction.
In Gran Turismo Sport, however, Brand Decals normally not available on Ferrari cars can still be selected if inserted on a Favorites folder beforehand. This loophole was closed in Gran Turismo 7, due to the impossibility to add Preset Decals into Favorites folders (they can only be pinned at the top of their sections).
Two Ferrari F355s entered in JGTC by Ferrari Club of Japan were planned to be included in Gran Turismo 2 according to replay name listings from demo versions of the game: TEAM FCJ FERRARI NO.28 '97 (with internal name of gtf7r) and TFCJ Ferrari F355GT '98 (with internal name of gtf8r). Neither car were included in the final game.[1]
In real life, the 1998 JGTC F355 was notable for being involved in Tetsuya Ota's fiery, career-ending accident at a rain-soaked May 1998 JGTC race at Fuji Speedway; the race was subsequently called off due to excess rain and fog, as the accident occurred after the parade lap, while Ota would file a successful lawsuit against the organizers and circuit management.
Data files for a Ferrari F2008 can be found in GT5P's files, although the thumbnails appear to be identical to those of Ferrari F2007's, specifically the variant with Marlboro barcode used only on Ferrari hospitality suites.[2]
