In-game description[]

"The ultimate supersport; a front-engine, rear-wheel drive that competed for the highest top speed of its day with the rival Miura."

After the appearance of the 1973 Berlinetta Boxer, V12-powered Ferrari super sportscars all adopted midship layouts for some years thereafter. The last front-engine, rear-wheel drive until this hiatus was the 365 GTB4,[1] often called by its nickname, 'Daytona'.

The reason for its popular nickname is that in the prior year of 1967, at the Daytona 24-hour race, the Ferrari Sports prototype 330 P4 and the 412 P attained a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd finish, completely dominating the podium.

The first person to call this car the 'Daytona' when the first prototype was delivered is rumored to be the Ferrari dealer and semi-works racing team N.A.R.T. (North American Racing Team) owner, Luigi Chinetti.

As can be noted from this, the 365 GTB4 strongly targeted the North American Market.

Its sleek form was designed by Leonardo Fioravanti of Pininfarina. The headlights were initially quad lights behind Plexiglas covers, but after 1970 it was made retractable to meet the safety standards of North America.

The 4,390 cc V12 DOHC unit is equipped with 6 Weber carburetors to produce 347 BHP and 44.0 kgfm torque. The announced top speed of 280 km/h was the fastest of its time, equal to that of its rival the Lamborghini Miura.

In Daytona, it dominated the Le Mans GT class 3 years in a row, leaving a legend befitting its name in racing history.

Legend Cars (GT7)[]

The 365 GTB/4 is a true flagship model. It debuted in 1968... As the successor to iconic 1960s Ferraris like the 250 GT Lusso and the 275 GTB. It is a front-engine, rear-wheel drive model, powered by a 4 cam 4,390 cc V12. Like all Ferraris of the period, the number indicated the displacement per cylinder. The 'GT' stood for 'gran turismo'. And the 'B' was for 'berlinetta', which indicated the body style was a coupé. Finally, the '4' indicated a four-cam engine with double overhead cams on each cylinder bank. Also, the Ferrari 365 GTB/4 is universally known as the 'Ferrari Daytona'. This is owing to Ferrari's historic 1-2-3 finish at the Daytona 24 Hours in '67, a year prior to its release. A major achievement indeed![2]

Café (GT7)[]

Fabio Filippini[]

Known as the 'Daytona', this Ferrari is the epitome of front-engine prancing horses. Heck, it may even be the epitome of the entire 'Gran Turismo' category. It was designed by Pininfarina. Despite its extreme proportions... It has a very clean and incisive style. Note how its plunging hood and a set-back cockpit end in a compact Kamm tail. Even its Plexiglas headlights evidence a streamlined and elegant design. The Plexiglas headlights on the early models and... Design elements such as the orange indicator lights on the side... Are defining features of this car. Also, the grooves that you'll note flow in a straight line... Were implemented on most Ferraris that followed this car. The star-shaped 5-spoke aluminium wheels are also important symbols of Ferrari design. Indeed, this wheel-style originated from a sports car prototype from the 1960s... And was first used on the Daytona.
