Description[]

"This historic Ferrari flagship impressed all with its vivid design.""

The Ferrari Testarossa (Type F110) was introduced as the company's mid-engine flagship in 1984, replacing the popular 512BB in the lineup. Penned by Pininfarina, the car boasted a wild exterior design that was highlighted by its signature side strakes.

At first glance, the strakes may appear to be just a wild design element, but in reality, they directed air to the car's Formula 1-style radiators. The cooling air was necessary to keep the car's 5.0-liter 180-degree V-12 running smooth. This mid-mounted engine produced 384.6 HP and 361.6 ft-lb of torque, allowing the car to run from zero to 100 km/h in lust 5.8 seconds and reach a top speed of 290 km/h.

Production of the Testarossa, which translated to "red head" in Italian, halted in 1992, making the way for the 512 TR.

Used Cars (GT7)[]

The Ferrari Testarossa was a high-end model, first announced in 1984. It is considered one of the company's greatest masterpieces, alongside its 80s contemporaries, the GTO and the F40. The Testarossa inherited its basic layout from Ferrari's BB 512 series. Most significantly, this means that it[1] features a V12 engine, mounted midship. It was named for the company's legendary racing car, the 250 Testa Rossa. Its design was the work of the famed Italian firm, Pininfarina. The distinctive strakes in the sides of the Testarossa's doors are a design feature inherited by the Ferrari V8.

Café (GT7)[]

Fabio Filippini[]

The Testarossa recalls the exuberance of the 80s—teen posters and American TV. In fact, its design is spectacular and ostentatious, totally the opposite of the 512 BB it replaced. First of all, the Testarossa impresses with its size. Note the imposing S-shaped volume of its tail and huge, iconic air inlets. This was copied by tuners and coachbuilders the world over, and was reflected in modified, banal city cars. That's how innovative it was! Of particular note is the black grille, which hides the rectangular rear lights... Eliminating for the first time the typical round tail lights of previous Ferraris. Another memorable oddity... Is the single side-mirror suspended in the middle of the pillar, which is present in the very first versions.

Trivia[]

  • In Gran Turismo 7 on PS4, a glitch occurs where when an opponent's Testarossa, is viewed through your cars mirrors, at a certain distance the Testarossa will start glowing white, regardless of livery or paint, in a similar fashion to how liveries are simplified or un-rendered upon being a certain distance from the player's camera.
