Fiat S.p.A, or Fiat Group or simply Fiat, is an Italian car manufacturer which is featured in the Gran Turismo series. It debuted in the series with six cars in Gran Turismo 2 and has appeared in all subsequent mainline releases.
Background
Fiat (Fabbrica Italiana Automobili Torino) was founded in 1899 in Torino, Italy by a group of investors including Giovanni Agnelli. It is currently the largest car manufacturer in Italy, and the 6th largest in the world.
Fiat is famous for the production of several models, including the Fiat 500 series, Punto, Panda and Stilo. The manufacturer is also famous for owning other Italian automakers such as Alfa Romeo, Lancia, Ferrari, and it's sister company, Maserati.
In 2014, Fiat S.p.A. and Chrysler Automobiles merged to form a new company, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, often abbreviated as FCA, effectively taking control of the Fiat Group, and as of October 12, 2014, Fiat S.p.A. had ceased to exist.
