In-game description[]
- "This third generation Fiat 500 is the quintessential Italian compact car. Not only did it inherit its design from the hugely popular second generation model... But like its predecessor, it too proved to be a massive worldwide success![1] With a 1.2L 69 BHP engine that feels great on the road... From handling to acceleration, it's simply a joy to drive!"
- ―In-game description of the car, from GT7's Brand Central
- "The Fiat 500 is the quintessential Italian compact. The design is based on that of the famed 1950s second generation model of the same name. It utilizes a traditional FF—or front-engine, front-wheel drive—system... And its FIRE engine is one in a long line of straight-four engines in use since the first Pandas. To be sure, it may not look like much... But it handles well, and offers up an engine note that's truly pleasing to the ear."
- ―In-game description of the car, from GT7's Used Car Dealership
Car Index (GT7)[]
Between 1957 and 1977, the second-generation Fiat 500 sold an amazing 4 million units, thanks to its extremely low price and attractive styling. The sales volume of the car was so significant that it put more Italians behind the wheel than any other car in history.
Fifty years after the first model made its debut, the 500 is still characterized by the original's tiny round headlights and shapely silhouette. This third-generation model first appeared at the 2004 Geneva Motor Show and inherited many of the mechanical components from the Panda, Fiat's popular compact family hauler. But it was the car's quirky styling that made the world notice the new 500. As soon as it reached dealerships in Europe, the car was in high demand; it became so popular that there were backorders in most markets around the globe, even after two years on the market.
Power for this small FF (Front engine, Front drive) car came in the form of either a 1.2- or 1.4-liter gasoline engine or 1.3-liter diesel. In Japan, the gasoline engines were the only versions sold, but they came with a dual logic two-pedal manual transmission. The 1.2-liter produced a scant 68 HP and 75.2 lb-ft of torque.
With a lightweight body weighing only 1,010 kg (even with the luxury grade Lounge model), and a stiff chassis, the 500 was actually fairly athletic, despite the engine's low output.
Café Conversations (GT7)[]
Freeman Thomas[]
I love the 2008 Fiat 500! It's so whimsical and fun. Really, it does a masterful job of improving upon its forebear. Expressing character in automotive design is no easy task. But here's an example that truly inspires! The face is friendly, with its round eyes. You could have a parking lot full of them, all in the same color, and they would each look unique! Color plays a huge emotional role in the 500. Given its retro design, the retro coloring suits it very well.

Trivia[]
- Due to its interior being right-hand drive, it is possible that the modeled version is for the Japanese market, where it is a popular foreign car due to its dimensions being under 1,700mm wide and having an engine under 2000cc, allowing the car to qualify for a "5" tax class bracket. This is supported by a mention of the Japanese specification availability in the car's description and Japanese-sized license plates, although this was changed to European-sized license plates in Sport.
- The same is true for the Abarth 500 '09.
- In GT7, however, the plates can be changed in GT Auto.
