Description[]

Renault has something of a history of turning humdrum hatchbacks into sensational supercars They did it with the original R5 — known in the States as the Le Car — turning it into a turbocharged, mid-engined monster — the Turbo II. Le Super Car.

When the Clio was introduced, hot versions were available. But all were front-drive four-cylinders. In 1999 things went full circle and Renault turned the Clio into the hairiest hatch since that first R5 Turbo. Gone was the four-cylinder front-mounted engine, front-wheel drive, and the two back seats, replaced by a three-liter V6 mounted amidships, driving the rear wheels.

The all composite bodywork is barely recognizable as a Clio with huge fender flares and monstrous side scoops. Considerably wider, the V6 Sport runs on huge 17-inch wheels. Suspension is independent MacPherson strut style at the front with Renault's 'three-axle multibar' at the rear.

The engine is that of the Laguna, which significant modification and 250 hp in the road cars. Cars running in the one-make series for which the car was originally intended run at 285 hp. Thanks to the use of composites, the Clio Sport is extremely light, and performance is blistering with 0-60 mph in just six seconds and a 160 miles per hour (260 km/h) top speed. That's 160 miles per hour (260 km/h). In a Clio.

Just 2500 of the crazy Clios will be built by Renault Sport which also produces the wild Spider.

Trivia[]

  • Although the car is listed as a Class S car in Arcade Mode, using the same car from Home Garage or Guest Garage will cause the game to treat it as a Class B car if the car has not been tuned. Coincidentally, it is the slowest Class S opponent car.
    • Additionally, in the game's demo builds, the car also features a gold color that was removed from the final game.
