In-game description[]

"The final CR-X model that provided fun in an open-top configuration."

The CR-X, after pioneering the world of front wheel drive sports cars, underwent a full model change in 1992, under the "Del Sol" sub name.

The conventional CR-X was a poster child for compact front wheel drive sports cars, pursuing the utmost in driving performance. Boasting agile movement, it was also a tad jittery in handling. This mix of good and bad was one of the idiosyncrasies of the CR-X.

Meanwhile, in the early '90s, young people began to distance themselves from sports cars. Noticing this, Honda thought to change the CR-X's positioning. Casting aside the stoic driving image, they sought to transform it into a car that drivers can have fun in.

As a result, the 3rd model took the route of an open-top model, with a roof that can be stowed in the rear. In the top model, Trans-top specification, it boasted a fully automated retractable roof. Although the rear seats were omitted and it became a 2 seater car, overall length was increased more than 7.8 inches over previous models in order to accommodate roof storage. Though its predecessor weighed in at the 900kg range, weight increased to 1.1 tonnes with the Trans-top.

The sole remaining element, perhaps owing to Honda's pride, was the powerful engine. The 1.6L VTEC from the previous generation was used for the SiR, with maximum output upgraded to 168 BHP. The standard grade VXi had a 128 BHP 1.5L, but it was replaced with a 1.6L in 1996 and the variant name was changed to VGi. While the Del Sol model was a drastic transformation, it was not able to renew and overcome the image of its predecessors. As a result the 3rd generation became the last model of the CR-X and production was discontinued.
