In-game description[]

This description is taken from the PAL version of Gran Turismo 2:

This Tommy Kaira R34 model was a complete car package prepared by Tommy Kaira based on the R34[1] Skyline GT-R, finally launched in January 1999. This time the tuning was carried out based on the top R34 Skyline model, the V-spec. The main features of the car are, firstly, the aero parts. In particular, the obsessions of the customers were reflected in the model this time; firstly we can see this in the blister shapes in the front fender. Of course, apart from this there is also a front bumper with gigantic openings, with diffusers beneath these, and the giant wing rising from the rear keeping the car firmly grounded - a style which certainly shows the evolution of the GT-R. Of course, there are also a lot of original parts used in the interior; a digital unit is used for the speedometer in the instrument panel. The model this time is divided in two grades; the "R" grade on which light tuning has been carried out, and the "RS" grade which has the complete tuning package. The biggest difference between these two grades lies in the areas of power and torque. The RB26DETT power unit fitted in each car generates a maximum output of 370 ps/7,800 rpm, and maximum torque of 32.5 kgm/4,600 rpm in the "R" grade, and a maximum output of 425 ps/7,800 rpm, and a maximum torque of 45.0 kgm/6,000 rpm in its "RS" guise. Apart from this difference, a twin plate clutch and strut bars with master cylinder stoppers are provided in the "RS" grade. The suspension features Tommy Kaira original shock absorbers in the R grade, and the tension rods feature pillow balls. Of course, one of the features with this model was that it was sold with a 1 year/20,000 km warranty. This is evidence of the high reliability of what is, in effect, a modified car.
