Description[]

McLaren established their road car department ‘McLaren Automotive’ in 2010, continuing to release high performance cars into the world ever since. And the McLaren Ultimate Vision Gran Turismo is a car developed by McLaren Automotive with an eye for 2030 and beyond.

This car which Gran Turismo series producer Kazunori Yamauchi was also involved in development brings to life the future, while staying true to the design pillars and principles established by McLaren; committed to putting the driver first. Within the main structure of the cabin, the driver resides in a motorcycle like driving position. This enabled an extreme cabin-forward design, giving the driver an ability to clearly identify the apex of the corners as they turn. The teardrop shaped canopy covering the driver carries on the tradition of McLaren roadcars, in helping to provide this excellent field of vision.

Mounted behind the cabin is McLarens 4 Litre V8 Twin Turbo engine. This drives the rear wheels, while the 'pods' housing the front wheels contain high output electric motors which drive the front wheels. The overall combined output of the car reaches 1134 BHP.

The aerodynamics of the car is also filled with innovation. The body of the McLaren Ultimate Vision Gran Turismo is optimized so that the body itself generates optimum aerodynamic performance, by minimizing individual components that would adversely affect aerodynamics. Rather than actuating surface panels in its active aerodynamics system, tiny aperture covers around the air inlets on key surfaces will open, producing drag and downforce. As a result, the number of moving parts in the system was reduced and helped to keep weight to a minimum. And with McLaren being the pioneer who first implemented carbon fibre into F1 racing, This machine also utilizes carbon fibre components throughout the car, thereby achieving a kerb weight of just 1,000 kg.

The McLaren Ultimate Vision Gran Turismo will be available in three liveries: Performance, Ulterior, and Noir. We hope you will take the opportunity to experience this sensory overload, combining incredible sound with awe-inspiring acceleration.

Brand Central (GT7)[]

The Ultimate Vision Gran Turismo is McLaren's idea of what racing might look like in 2030 and beyond. It holds a host of surprises for anyone who gets behind the wheel. The biggest of these is surely the prone driving position. This expands the driver's field of vision, and also provides benefits in terms of interior layout. it's the result of a design approach that always puts the driver first. McLaren's total dedication to driving perfection is fully expressed in this ultimate machine.

Trivia[]

  • Unlike the Gr.1 counterpart, the regular version of the McLaren Vision GT does not use Gr.1-specific racing number boxes. However, it does have position lights, which is carried over to the Gr.1 version and even turns on during the prize car wheel.
  • This car is one of two cars in the series (three if its Gr.1 version is included) that require a motorcycle-like riding form in order to drive it, the other being the Nike ONE 2022.
  • The design of the car influenced two of McLaren's limited-run models: the US-exclusive Sabre and the track-only Solus GT (the latter being heavily derived from the Vision GT).[1]
  • Unusually for a car with a modeled interior (along with its Gr.1 variant), when selected in the Arcade Modes (transmission select), on the left side of the screen, it shows the various angles of the car instead of the interior. This may likely be due to the lack of any proper space inside the cockpit to focus on the details. This issue also affects the Chevrolet Chaparral 2X Vision Gran Turismo.
  • Although the car is simplified as McLaren VGT in GT7, the car's full name is still mentioned in the description text, both in Car Index and dealership.
