In-game description[]

This description is taken from the PAL version of Gran Turismo 2:

The 9th generation of the typical Japanese small saloon, the Sunny, emerged in October 1998 after a full model change. This model was launched as the 'new world standard sedan', and was characterised by an increase in body length and height of 50 mm and 30 mm respectively, making it one size bigger than the previous model. Through using a newly-developed platform, the impact safety performance was greatly improved, and the body stiffness was improved by 30% compared to the previous model. As is evident from the above, the Sunny has always been solid and dependable, but this is after all a Nissan, so even in this Sunny line-up there is a sports model - the VZ-R grade. The engine mounted in the VZ-R is a 1.6 litre in-line 4-cylinder DOHC unit, combined with variable valve timing and lift mechanism VVL. This generates a maximum power output of 175 ps and maximum torque of 15.6 kgm. The only transmission available is a hardcore 5-speed manual gearbox. Furthermore, with a comparatively light weight of 1,180 kg, combined with this power unit, this achieves a very light ride. The suspension uses front struts and multi-link beam type at the rear, and even though this combination is an economy car spec., it has a new platform with increased stiffness, and is capable of sports driving performance.
