In-game Description[]

This description is taken from the PAL version of Gran Turismo 2:

Never has a humdrum family hatch looked so outlandish. The Focus, launched in 1998 to replace the ageing Escort, takes the "New Edge" design that first appeared on the baby Ka to extremes. Up for grabs in three-door, five-door, saloon, and estate forms the Focus also boasts a wide range of 16-valve, four-cylinder Zetec engines. At the bottom of the range there's a 1.6-litre 99BHP effort and a 1.8-litre turbo diesel with 89BHP. For stronger performance it's a choice of 1.8-litre or two-litre petrol units. Bag a 113BHP 1.8 and you'll find that 0-60mph takes 10.3 seconds and top speed is 120mph, whilst the range-topping two-litre is a second faster to 60mph thanks to its 128BHP and its top speed rises to 123mph. It may not be super speedy but the Focus offers handling that no other family hatch can match. The Focus body is 15 per cent stiffer than any other car in its class and its independent MacPherson strut front and multi-link rear axle are tuned to grip the road and inform the driver. The power steering is very quick, with just 2.9 turns lock-to-lock, and endows the Focus with precise turn-in. The Focus will grip as hard as its 14-inch wheels and tyres allow, but when the slide comes the chassis can be tweaked on the throttle like the hottest hot hatch. The slick five-speed manual gearbox is well-matched to the engines and all models have ABS anti-lock brakes and traction control as standard fit or optional extra to help keep the driver out of trouble. The Focus forms the basis of Ford's World Rally Championship contender which you can also get your hands on in GT2[1].
