"The RS model of the third-generation Ford Focus was the first to get 4-wheel drive."
―In-game catch text for the car, from GT7's car collection

The Ford Focus RS '18 is a road car produced by Ford. It first appears in Gran Turismo 7.

Colors[]

Three colors are available:

  • Nitrous
  • Race Red
  • Liquid Blue

In-game description[]

"The RS sits at the top of the Focus line, and is particularly popular with rally fans. Previous RS models had been designed with an FF layout... But this fourth iteration, which debuted in 2018, employed a 4WD setup for the first time. The torque distribution can be adjusted for anything between 100% forward and 100% rear. This makes it perfect for any purpose—even drifting."
―In-game description of the car, from GT7's Brand Central

Car Index (GT7)[]

While there have been numerous variations of the Ford Focus, the line-up has always included a sports model. The 4th generation continued this trend with its high performance 'RS' model debuting in 2015.

While in previous generations the 'RS' badge had indicated a front-wheel drive model with sporty handling, the 4th generation Focus RS moved to a 4WD layout. The adjustable torque distribution allows for any ratio between 100% front and 100% rear, and the rear axle uses a twin-clutch system that functions as an LSD. In addition to a 'Track' mode the drive mode select has a 'Drift' mode. Attention has also been paid to the suspension which features 'Dual Mode' dampers.

The car uses the same 2.3L inline-4 EcoBoost engine as seen on the Mustang but tuned to produce 345.2 BHP and 44.8 kgfm through the addition of a new turbocharger and large intercooler. With a 0-100 km/h time of just 4.s and a top sped of 266 km/h the Focus RS goes above and beyond the level of the average 'hot hatch'.

Trivia[]

  • In GT Auto, a rear wing resembling that used by the Ford Focus Gr.B Rally Car can be installed.
  • The design for one of the AI liveries appears to be based on the Ford Focus Rally Car '99.
  • Liquid Blue was only showcased with the Focus RS during automotive shows. Because of the high cost of the paint, it was never actually available as an option. The same applies to the Ford Shelby GT350R '16.
  • Despite the model year, the car in-game appears to be a 2016-2017 production run car, as the in-game infotainment display shows an older Ford SYNC 2 system, which wasn't equipped on the 2018 Focus RS. Additionally, the roof, wings/spoilers, and mirror caps are body colored instead of black.
