In-game description[]

"The refined final year model of the 100th anniversary machine."

The Ford GT40 became an instant icon in the GT racing world by dominating the famous 24 Hours of Le Mans endurance, taking the top three spots of the podium in 1966, and winning the next four in a row. In celebration of Ford's 100th anniversary in 2002, the company elected to recreate the legend by producing the spiritual successor to the classic race car of the sixties, called the Ford GT.

The concept model was presented at the 2002 North American International Auto Show, followed by the unveiling of the production car at the same show in 2004. Its beautiful styling closely resembled that of the original GT40, but the new machine came armed with the latest technological features around. The car measured 17.9 inches longer and 4.0 inches taller than the original, but its larger size was effectively veiled by the stunning exterior styling.

Placed amidship, immediately behind the cabin, was a longitudinally-mounted, supercharged 5.4 liter DOHC V8 that pumped out 550 HP at 6500 rpm with 500.0 lb-ft of torque at 3750. It came mated to a manual 6-speed gearbox. The new GT boasted remarkable performance, running from zero to 60 mph (about 62 mph) in 3.3 seconds, while reaching a top speed of 205 mph (330 km/h).

A total of 4,038 GTs were unleashed onto the streets during its three-year production run, and, by all accounts, this revived version of the GT40 will be just as collectable as the original.

This is a remake of the legendary GT40 that once made history at Le Mans. Its beautiful retro stylings are an absolute joy, bringing the spirit of the 1960s to the present day! From the unique note of its supercharged V8 engine, to the mighty chassis into which all the power is packed... The developers of the GT40 really thought of every little detail. Well now, this is a true icon! A modern take on the Ford GT40 of Le Mans fame... It was built to commemorate Ford's 100th anniversary. Design-wise, it conjures up memories of the beautiful racing cars that played such a big role in the 1960s. Internally, however, it's been completely revamped, with an aluminum space frame developed from scratch. Also, in a brilliant move, it combines a midship V8 supercharged engine... With a six-speed manual gearbox. Honestly, I can't imagine the value of this beauty ever falling.

The 2006 Ford GT is really a design collaboration between J Mays and Camillo Pardo. J's vision was to express a thoroughly modern interpretation... Of the GT40's design heritage. It is really a clever design in that it is larger than the original but scaled up perfectly! In fact, placed next to the original, you won't believe the difference in size. The original was really quite small. The precise paneling play an important role in modernizing the GT40. The larger size of the new Ford GT makes it accommodating for larger and taller drivers. This is truly an iconic 'daily driver' super car, supported by Ford's reliability and access to parts. The styling, both inside and out, is timeless. It is a collector's car for true gearheads.
