The Ford Mustang is a series of muscle cars (later compact pony cars) produced by Ford. It was originally based on the platform of the second generation North American Ford Falcon, a compact car. The original Ford Mustang I four-seater concept car had evolved into the 1963 Mustang II two-seater prototype, which Ford used to pretest how the public would take interest in the first production Mustang which was released as the 1964 1/2, with a slight variation on the frontend and a top that was 2.7 inches shorter than the 1963 Mustang II. Introduced early on April 17, 1964, and thus dubbed as a "1964½" model by Mustang fans, the 1965 Mustang was the automaker's most successful launch since the Model A. The Mustang has undergone several transformations to its current sixth generation.
At least one iteration of the Ford Mustang has appeared in every main Gran Turismo game to date since Gran Turismo 2.
Café Description[]
You can't talk about American sports cars without mentioning the Ford Mustang. The first generation Mustang, from 1964, has a very special place in motoring history. It made its debut at the World's Fair in New York, and within a month, over 100,000 orders had been placed! Compared to other American cars at the time, the Mustang was relatively small, but had a powerful, compact design. The Boss 429 was built to compete in the US's immensely popular NASCAR races, while the legendary G.T.350 was developed in collaboration with American racing driver Carroll Shelby. There aren't many cars which boast over half a century of history over numerous generations, and the Mustang remains just as much of an icon of American motoring today as it did when it first launched.
