In-game description[]

"A high-performance model taking the 5th generation Mustang a step further."

The BOSS 302 is a high-performance model in the line-up of the 5th generation Ford Mustang.[1]

The first time that the BOSS 302 name appeared in Mustang history was during its 2nd generation models, in 1969. It was a model that was developed as a homologation model for the SCCA Trans Am race. After entering the SCCA by tuning up its 5 L 302 unit to 463 BHP, the car became champion in 1970, taking the SCCA title away from its rival, the Camaro.

The 5th generation BOSS 302 appeared in the 2012 model line up. The naming comes from the racing legend, but it also means that the engine displacement is 5 L, mounting a 302 unit. Changes to the Mustang GT DOHC V8 engine management and exhaust system takes the engine output up by 23 BHP, to 437 BHP.

The BOSS 302 was also included in the line-up for the 2013 model. There is no major change to the engine, but the 6-speed manual transmission utilised close-ratio gears, the clutch was reinforced, and it is equipped with a special limited-slip differential. The shift stroke has also been shortened as well.

For the suspension, the spring rate has been increased, stiffer bushings are utilised and the rear stabiliser has been made larger in diameter.

A BOSS 302 Laguna Seca version also exists, with no rear seats and even further reinforced suspension for circuit use.
