Formula One, also commonly known as Formula 1 and F1, is the highest level of global competition in the motorsport discipline of open-wheel single-seater formula racing cars, governed and organized by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA). Established in 1950, the The FIA Formula One World Championship has been one of the world's premier forms of racing since its inception.
The first officially licensed, works F1 car to appear in Gran Turismo is the Ferrari F2007, which appeared in Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, Gran Turismo PSP and Gran Turismo 5. All F1 cars that have appeared in the series are licensed directly from each manufacturer on car-by-car basis.
