The following is the list of tests that must be completed in order to obtain the A-License in Gran Turismo 3: A-Spec:

A-1[]

Practical Cornering 1

Clear the right-hand corner just after passing the crest of the gentle left-hand corner. No need to stay to the outside, as braking immediately beforehand will be unstable if you enter the right-hand corner well to the outside. Try to hold to the inside kerb, and brake straight. Afterwards, look for the point where you can open the throttle fully.

A-2[]

Practical Cornering 2

When you finish braking, move quickly to the inside kerb, controlling the acceleration carefully. The key to achieving a good time is to keep tracing the kerb closely. Watch the exit and apply full throttle, hold close to the kerb on the outside while controlling the tail slide (should rear-wheel lose control against the power and drift to the outside).

A-3[]

Practical Cornering 3

Clear the high-speed corner at Mid-Field, different from previous corners that needed strong deceleration. Try to shift down to 3rd gear while braking lightly and pass the inside kerb. Keeping in 3rd gear to hold the speed, aim for the outside kerb by tracing a constant wide radius. No need to keep following the inside kerb.

A-4[]

Circle Track: 60R, Dry Road

  • Car: Mazda RX-7 Type RZ (FD) '00
  • Track: Circle 60R
  • Gold Time: 0:43.900 (NTSC); 0:43.200 (PAL)
  • Silver Time: 0:44.300 (NTSC); 0:44.000 (PAL)
  • Bronze Time: 0:46.200 (NTSC); 0:46.000 (PAL)

Drive 3 laps of the 60 meter radius circular course. Keep to the line, finely controlling the steering and acceleration by driving tight to the inside kerb. Gain time by crossing the Finish line using a course on the very outside immediately before the time. Watch out for tail-slides due to over-acceleration.

A-5[]

Circle Track: 100R, Dry Road

Three laps around a circular track with a 100-meter radius. Try using fine steering and accelerator control to keep to a line right next to the inside kerb from start to finish. Just before the finish line, gain time by using the full width of the track so that you cross the finish line all the way to the outside. Watch for oversteer from hitting the gas too hard.

A-6[]

Long Corners

This is a left/right complex corner. Avoid getting close to the inside of the first right corner and aim for the inside kerb at the tunnel entrance. The next corner is a left, so avoid going all the way to the outside but rather point the car to the right side of the track and get ready for the next corner. In the long left corner, avoid goosing the accelerator and keep to the inside without haste.

A-7[]

Blind Corners

Clear the right-hand corner at the top of the steep hill in Seattle. This is a blind corner, so get a feel for the braking point and the turning point. After landing from the last turn, turn to the right and brake straight away, aiming for the inside kerb. Accelerate once you're on the kerb. Use the corner right up to the outside wall.

A-8[]

A-License Final Exam

Challenging points on the Mid-Field course. Ignore the first left-hand corner in the small S-bend, and concentrate on the next right-hand corner. Cut deep into the right-hand side kerb to enter the next hairpin from the outside. Change position and direction of the car to the inside by braking; you need to change the direction of the car drastically in the first half of the corner to accelerate at the ex
