Audi Nuvolari quattro '03

The pre-war Grand Prix driver, Tazio Nuvolari, is considered as one of the all-time greats. He won a total of 61 Grand Prix races over his long career, including wins in the famous 12-cylinder mid-engine Type D Grand Prix machine created by Auto Union, the automobile manufacturer that eventually became Audi. In honor of this legendary driver, Audi created the Nuvolari quattro[1] concept car which was first shown to the public at the 2003 Geneva Motor Show.

This large coupe featured a 2+2 seating arrangement. It stretched 188.9 inches long, 75.5 inches wide and 55.5 inches high, with an interior that was large enough to comfortably transport four. Under its hood was a 5.0 liter V-10 with FSI that produced a plentiful 592 HP and, combined with Audi's all-wheel-drive system and an active suspension with three adjustable ride heights, the Nuvolari was stable all the way up to the car's 155 mph top speed. The interior was as sleek and modern as the sheetmetal, featuring a beige and black two-tone color scheme, along with strategically placed LEDs[2] that ran through the perimeter of the vehicle, from the dashboard back toward the rear section of the cabin, cascading the welcoming environment in soft, indirect lighting.

Though the Nuvolari quattro[1] never made it to production, one can easily see its resemblance in the very attractive-looking A5 coupe that went on sale in 2007.

Notes[]

  1. 1.0 1.1 Capitalized as "Quattro" in the game when it's officially lowercase
