There are ten licenses available in Gran Turismo 7, with ten tests each (the last test of each level can only be done when all previous nine tests are done). Acquisition of each license is progressively more difficult to achieve than the last. Currently, only the regular National A-License is required for progression, as some championships in GT Café require that particular license.
The regular licenses are available at launch:
- B-License (hosted by Daniel Solis)
- A-License (hosted by Coque López)
- International B-License (hosted by Igor Fraga)
- International A-License (hosted by Mikail Hizal)
- Super License (hosted by Takuma Miyazono)
The Master Licenses are added with the 1.40/Spec II update and unlocks after completing the regular S-License:
- Master B-License (hosted by Takuma Sasaki)
- Master A-License (hosted by Angel Inostroza)
- Master International B-License (hosted by Valerio Gallo)
- Master International A-License (hosted by Kylian Drumont)
- Master S-License (hosted by José Serrano)
In each test, the player is provided a vehicle, and must complete the task in the time limit. Gold, Silver, and Bronze times are displayed above the lap time on the screen.
Each license level is hosted by a GTWS competitor, which serves as the player's instructor and explains what the player should do in each test.
