This is a list of known glitches and bugs in the original Gran Turismo. This page does not detail instances that are "behind-the-scenes" and do not affect gameplay, such as completely removed content.
Barrier Collision Bug[]
In the original NTSC-J version and some NTSC-U demos of the game, it is possible to drive straight into a wall and gain speed rapidly. Sometimes, especially if used in Test Course (only possible in the Japanese version, as the US demos only feature Clubman Stage Route 5), this can result in the car accelerating so quickly it will start to float into the sky, requiring a restart of the race. It is not unlikely to see speeds of 400-500 km/h when this occurs.
Incorrect AI Performance[]
The Toyota Celica GT-Four AI opponent that appears in the GT World Cup series, as well as the Grand Valley 300km Endurance and the SSR11 All-Night I race uses the handling line of the Toyota Corona Exiv instead, resulting in an incorrect FF drivetrain and poorer-than-normal performance. This can be seen in the "Starting Grid" selection pre-race. This bug is not present in the NTSC-J version.
Race Modification Name Errors[]
Certain models of the Subaru Impreza have their replay and result names mixed up when they are race modified.
- The Subaru IMPREZA Sedan WRX STi Version II '95 will display [R]IMPREZA'95WG STiII, which belongs to the wagon variant.
- The Subaru IMPREZA Sport Wagon WRX STi Version II '95 will display [R]IMPREZA'94WG WRX, which belongs to the 1994 model.
- The Subaru IMPREZA Sport Wagon WRX '94 will display [R]IMPREZA'94SD WRX, which belongs to the sedan variant.
- The Subaru IMPREZA Sedan WRX '94 will display [R]IMPREZA'95SD STiIII, which is ambiguous to both the 1995 Version II model and the 1996 Version III model.
Text Errors[]
On the PAL version, racing model suspension parts are listed as 'NEED-JA.HTM', suggesting that they were looking for the English translation of the Japanese term but forgot to actually translate it before the game was released. On the NTSC-U Version, the Toyota CHASER LM Edition's suspension has the same problem, being listed as 'NEED-JA.HTM'.
