The Gran Turismo NASCAR Cup is the eleventh event in the International A Class. There are five races on five separate courses. The event itself, while fictional, is loosely based on the real-life NASCAR Sprint Cup series.

Opponents[]

In this event, all opponents that use Generation 6 (2013) cars are coded to use real life driver names corresponding to each car. For Brian Vickers and Joey Logano (but not AJ Allmendinger), as their 2013 cars are not present in the game, their 2011 cars instead feature their surname, but with different initials, similar to opponent names in the Super GT GT300 and Super GT GT500 series.

Trivia[]

  • The power limiter requirement is a reference to restrictor plates used on super speedways; however in this event the power limiter are also required on Twin Ring Motegi and Indianapolis, none of which require the use of restrictor plates.
    • However, NASCAR did use restrictor plates in New Hampshire (designated as an intermediate oval by NASCAR) in September 2000, after deaths of Adam Petty and Kenny Irwin, Jr. earlier that year. The race in question was won by Jeff Burton leading every lap of the race.
  • Due to the Daytona race being set at night (presumably due to GT6 adding time-of-day changes on the track), it is possible the race may have intended to represent the Coke Zero 400, which has been held at night since 1998.
  • The fact an Italian driver (U. Parisi) drove one of Tony Stewart's cars may be a coincidental reference to Max Papis acting as an injury substitute for Tony Stewart for the 2013 Watkins Glen International race.
