This page discusses the blocking procedure here on Gran Turismo Wiki.

Punitive blocks[]

Blocks that are intended to punish a user should not be made. The block tool is to be used to protect the wiki. An administrator who performs any sort of punitive block will have their tools revoked and, depending upon the severity of the violation, may also be banned or blocked.

Reasons for blocking[]

As stated above, the block tool should only be used to protect the wiki and its users. Therefore, legitimate reasons for blocking are:

  • The account is a sockpuppet of a recently banned user
  • The account is abuse-only
  • The account has participated in one or more lengthy edit wars
  • The account has been chronically incivil
  • The account has revealed personal information on a page other than their user talk page
  • The account is causing havoc on another wiki and is likely to do the same to Gran Turismo Wiki (more on this in the "Preemptive Blocking" section)
  • The account began causing trouble on another wiki after signing up for a Gran Turismo Wiki account
  • The account has been known to cause trouble on PlayStation Network, or is known to have published hacks/cheats for Gran Turismo, a PlayStation console, the PlayStation Network, or harmful hacks for websites (both of the latter reasons will result in an immediate permanent hardblock with email functionality disabled)
  • The account has attempted to violate Polyphony Digital's/Sony's copyright by claiming that something which actually belongs to Sony or Polyphony belongs to them (the same goes for any other copyrights)
  • Or any other reason stated by the community.

Preemptive blocking[]

As stated above, if a user is causing damage to other wikis and has the possibility of doing the same to Gran Turismo Wiki, an administrator may pre-block the user and any sockpuppets or IPs they may be using as a preventative measure to protect Gran Turismo Wiki and its users. If a user is actually threatening other users, whether physically, legally or indeed in any other fashion, any Gran Turismo Wiki member is encouraged to report the threat to either Gp75motorsports or MTracey1. If such a situation were ever to occur, administrators should then follow the procedure for dealing with threats and, if the situation dictates it, assist in notifying other wikis of the possible danger, so that they may handle the situation as their rules dictate.

Citing reasons[]

In order to prevent taunting and harassment, the reason a user has been banned should never be revealed to the community. If the user has email enabled, the blocking administrator should email the user the reason for his blocking as a measure of privacy.
