The Gran Turismo World Series (GTWS) is a series of professional Gran Turismo world championship esports tournaments, managed by Polyphony Digital (PD). The championship primarily consists of two series that are held concurrently throughout the year: the Nations Cup, where drivers represent their country/territory, and the Manufacturers Cup, where drivers represent their favorite automotive manufacturer. The series is currently ran using Gran Turismo 7, the latest game in the series.
From 2018 to 2021, the GTWS was sanctioned by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) as the FIA-Certified Gran Turismo Championships (FIAGTC) and used the racing game Gran Turismo Sport. From 2022, when the series moved to use GT7, the partnership between PD and the FIA has been placed on hiatus, and the series renamed to the GTWS. For the purposes of driver and manufacturer records, the FIAGTC and GTWS are considered one and the same racing series.
Since 2023, the victors of both championships have been invited to Polyphony Digital's Year-End Party at their Tokyo offices, and take part in the annual Gran Turismo Race of Champions hosted there.
