The HKS Drag 180SX is a tuned car produced by HKS, but is listed as a Nissan vehicle in its only appearance in Gran Turismo 2. It is a pre-facelift Nissan 180SX specifically modified for drag-racing.
In-game description[]
The following description is a translation of the car's description from GT2's NTSC-J version:
HKS, one of Japan's leading tuning manufacturers, created this machine to compete in drag races for 0-400m acceleration time. The base vehicle is a Nissan 180SX, which was specially designed for drag racing.
The power unit installed is the RB26DETT type from the Skyline GT-R. Based on the Kogore, a STEP3 87mm acupuncture needle was used for the pistons, H-section connecting rods, a full counter S crankshaft with crank damper kit, HKS original metal, and STEP3 camshafts IN290 and EX280. Other features include hollow valves, EC1 race full-computer, and twin GT3037S 56T AR 0.73 turbines. The boost controller is an EVC, SPL racing wastegate, GT intercooler, 75mm dual isometric front wipers are straight out the side, and HKS parts are used for most of the parts. The engine generates an incredible amount of power and torque, with a maximum output of 1030 hp at 9000 rpm and maximum torque of 93 kgps at 7000 rpm.
The transmission used was a Liberty 5-speed air shifter.
The best time recorded at Sendai Highland on November 2, 1997 was 7.412 seconds, and the final speed at the finish line of 400m was 294km/h. It is truly a special machine for 0-400m.

This car can be obtained by winning the third race of the Pacific League event, located on Laguna Seca Raceway.
Trivia[]
- Despite being a drag car, it is unable to complete a 1/4 mile drag in under 10 seconds. This is because the game does not feature a drag tire compound, so the car cannot get off the line as quickly as it should.
- Unlike the normal 180SX, this car is not rebranded to 240SX/200SX in the NTSC-U/PAL releases. This is likely because it is based on a specific tuned car, not a production model.
- Unlike its Skyline-based cousin, this car will occasionally appear as an opponent in Race 2 of the Tuned Turbo Car No.1 Cup, on Test Course.
- Although the real-life car does not have actual headlights, the headlights will open during night races in-game.
