In Game Description

"A fantastic 2-seater Kei car full of driving fun."

The Beat defied every kei car convention, and was an instant classic in the making for Honda. It was a convertible model, but what made it totally unique was that it was mid-engined.

It measured 129.9 inches from bumper to bumper, sat 54.9 inches wide and 46.2 inches tall. What's especially notable was the Beat's kerb weight of only 760 kg. The mass was distributed front and rear just like a full size exotic car, with 43 percent over the front wheels and 57 percent over rear. The engine, which was situated immediately behind the cabin, was a 656cc naturally-aspirated inline-3. Despite being classified as a kei engine, it was quite high-tech, featuring a multi-joint throttle and an engine control system related to the company's Formula 1 research. Gear change was performed via a 5-speed manual gearbox that managed the power sent to the rear wheels.

The Beat's handling was in a league of its own. The suspension was tuned for sporty driving, and Honda incorporated different size wheels for the front (13 in.) and rear (14 in.). The brakes were excellent, being fitted with discs on all wheels, the first time in a kei car. Despite the somewhat pricey nature of the Beat, Honda ended up selling 33,672 of this svelte convertible until production was halted in 1998.
