The CB750F hit American shores just as a new competition was getting started: the AMA Superbike racing series, a competition for production bikes sold in America. In contrast to relatively loose mechanical regulations of some series, the Superbike series required modifications to stay within the original shape of the base showroom model. This particular motorcycle is based on CB750Fs that raced in the AMA Superbike contest in the early 1980s.
The intake system has link-driven flat-slide carburettors. Dry-sump lubrication is used to reduce friction loss in the engine. The left and right crankcase covers are slim for extra lean angles. The reinforced frame's fork has special parts to allow independently adjustable damping. There's also a stabiliser-equipped swing arm, aluminum fork brackets, and a rear shock upgrade.
With an 18-inch magnesium rim on the front and a 16 at the back, this model cranked out 90 hp and delivered light handling that can still stand up to today's sportbikes.
