The Honda CBR1100XX '01, better known as the Honda CBR1100XX Super Blackbird, is a Street bike produced by Honda Motorcycles. It only appears in Tourist Trophy.

Description[]

The CBR1100XX is a fully-faired road-going sportbike first announced in 1997 by Honda, who promised it would be the fastest motorcycle in the world. Extensive use of flush surfaces improves aerodynamic performance, as do the rearview mirrors with embedded indicators inherited from the oval-pistoned NR750. The piggyback-style headlights add to the machine's individuality.

Models for use outside of Japan were fitted with a four-cylinder dual overhead cam engine generating 164 hp at 10,000 r.p.m. In addition to power, the engine was also designed for aerodynamics, including a cam chain mounted at the end of the engine instead of the centre for narrower overall width. The dual-shaft balancer reduced engine vibration and allowed a chassis design that lightened the CBR1100XX to an amazingly light dry weight of less than 500 lbs. The main chassis consisted of a twin-tube aluminium frame and bottom-link rear suspension. Honda's original Dual Combined Brake System (DCBS) in the front and rear assured powerful braking force even at high speeds.

For the 1999 models, Honda added PGM fuel injection and adjusted the valve and ignition timing for greater power and more linear power delivery. Reflecting changing realities, a Japanese-spec model received a catalytic converter and an anti-theft immobiliser. Generating 100 hp at 8,500 r.p.m., this model was well received in Japan for its ease of handling.

The handlebars are positioned lower and farther forward, for a lower-leaning riding position that is more aerodynamic at top speed. With a solid feel, the front and rear suspension are tuned for road-hugging grip at midrange and high speeds. During high-speed cornering and other situations demanding a delicate touch, the brake system delivers both a natural feel and powerful stopping force when needed.

Superior, intuitive handling makes this well-designed machine a satisfying experience for intermediate and expert riders alike.
